Wayne Sadberry describes the origin of the Bryan School for Colored in 1885

Mr. Wayne Sadberry: As far as I know, the Bryan School for Colored began in 1885, and it's about five or six teachers, principal, and some teachers out there. And we have a historic marker out there, and they listed on there. And it went on, as we had pretty much records from that point on, as to each school year and what they did and who was in the school and the teachers that were there. And so I thought it was a noble thing. I don't know where those people came from. So they had to come in here from some other community, because there was no way we could have developed our own black teachers at that time.
